The casualties of neglect and indifference.

We who live in the prosperous west have never experienced destitution and not having any personal experience of the awful consequences for those forced to suffer and endure this dreadful affliction, we have only a vague understanding of its cruel consequences. Life- long destitution robs those who endure it of dignity, education a decent home, meaningful employment, and all the other things that we in the ‘West’ take as being our in alien rights, it can and dose cause complete mental collapse for many, particularly the elderly.

In India destitution is rampant and millions are doomed to endure a life of hopelessness; living on the verge of constant hunger and severe deprivation. This scourge is all the more galling because we live in the 21st Century, which is one of surplus. Farmers in the west are being paid billions of dollars not to grow food, and a further six billion dollars is spent every day by World Governments on standing armies, navies, air-forces and the procurements of weapons of mass- destruction. This day and every day 28.000 destitute children die directly from starvation, or diseases resulting from prolonged malnutrition.

Every liberal western democracy rightly has child protection laws enshrined in law and persons found guilty of child abuse are punished. The worst form of child abuse is to stand idly bye and allow 12,512,000 to die every day from starvation, this is grotesque and we all share responsibility for each and every young life that is sacrificed on the blood- stained alter of neglect and indifference.

The problem of destitution is acute and widespread; the numbers of those affected are so great that third –world charities don’t have the capacity to cope with an ever-worsening crisis. It would take multi-government intervention in the form of The United Nations Organisation to tackle the problems of deaths from starvation in Africa and Asia. This is unlikely to happen unless or until voters demand from their elected representatives that massive humanitarian intervention be initiated by national governments in the U.N. forum.

No self-respecting person can fail to be moved by the tragedy of starving children of the third-world; each and every one of us can make a difference, I know from personal experience that it’s possible to help reduce the carnage of death and suffering of innocent children. You may well ask why should I be concerned or help prevent the carnage of innocent children? The answer is really quite simple: you and I and every other human being have been placed on Planet Earth to accomplish a spiritual mission; which has to be the perfection of our humanity. I base this hypothesis on common sense and simple logic. And the best method of perfecting our humanity in: to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, and care for orphans.

On this website there is a direct debit sponsorship form that you can down load and for as little as £12 or $22 you can feed, clothe, and educate a destitute child in India.
